Frameless & Sliding Shower Doors in Boxford & Rowley, MA

We started this month in Boxford, MA, notching a glass panel to match a vaulted ceiling — not something you plan for until you’re standing in the bathroom with a tape measure. From on-site experience at IDEAL, present for every installation the team completes, our crew sees a lot of bathrooms before they’re finished, and this stretch across the North Shore and out toward Boston’s western suburbs gave us five completely different jobs in five completely different houses. Every one started as an old tub curtain or dated glass and ended with a frameless shower door that fits the room it’s in.

A Corner Shower That Had to Follow the Roofline in Boxford

The ceiling in this Boxford bathroom pitches down right where the shower sits, so the top rail of the glass got cut on an angle instead of a straight line. Chrome hardware, subway tile to the ceiling, hexagon marble on the pan floor. The homeowner’s biggest worry going in was headroom — she wasn’t worried by the time we left.

A Wet Room Setup in Rowley, Tub and Shower Behind One Pane of Glass

This Rowley job puts the freestanding tub right inside the tiled shower area, so one frameless enclosure covers both. Brushed bronze hardware against that dark, glossy charcoal tile isn’t a combination we see every day, and it holds up fine as long as the caulk line at the tub-to-tile seam gets checked every year or so.

A Swing Door and a Teak Bench in Weston

The Weston homeowner wanted a seat that wasn’t built into the tile, so we worked around a teak bench instead. Black hardware, a swing door with a fixed panel, and a black-and-white floral mosaic floor the tile crew set before we ever measured for glass. Door swing had to clear that bench by a couple inches.

Swapping a Curtain for Glass in Sudbury

Not every job is a full tile remodel. This Sudbury bathroom kept its existing fiberglass tub surround — we hung a frameless-look door on it with chrome hardware to replace the curtain that had been there since the house was built. Walls on older surrounds like this are almost never plumb, so the header gets shimmed and scribed instead of bolted up square.

A Sliding Tub Door in North Andover, Straight Out of the Box

The install tag was still hanging on the glass when we took this photo in North Andover — a sliding bypass door over the tub, chrome track, subway tile, and a niche shelf built into the wall. Sliding doors like this one are the right call when a swing door would hit the vanity or toilet on its way open.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I keep the glass clean without streaks?

Keep a squeegee in the shower and use it every time, top to bottom, before water dries on the glass. IDEAL Crystal Clear Glass sheds spots better than standard glass, but it’s not spot-proof — we cover the weekly habits that keep it that way in our maintenance and care tips post. Skip anything with vinegar or ammonia if your glass has a protective coating.

How do I know if my shower door needs adjustment?

If the door doesn’t swing shut on its own from a few inches open, or a sliding door drags instead of gliding, the rollers or hinges are out of level — usually the house settling, not anything you did. If you’re searching “shower door repair near me” on the North Shore, that’s exactly the kind of call our crew handles on a regular service run.

What does a custom shower door cost in the North Shore area?

Most jobs we install run somewhere between $800 and $2,500, depending on size, hardware finish, and whether it’s a straight panel or a custom angle like the Boxford job above. We don’t quote a real number over the phone — we come out for a free in-home measurement, standard for anyone in Danvers, Beverly, Salem, or Marblehead and the towns around them.

Where We’re Working This Fall

Between these five jobs we covered a lot of ground — Boxford and Rowley near the coast, North Andover just west of there, Weston and Sudbury out toward 495. That’s on top of our regular week in Danvers, Beverly, Salem, Marblehead, Swampscott, Lynn, Peabody, and Middleton. If your bathroom’s on the list for a fall deadline, reach out through our contact page before the schedule fills up.

Call us at (978) 777-9900 or send a note through our contact page — plenty of homeowners want this finished before the holidays, and we’d rather get you on the calendar now than rush it in December.
