# Glass Shower Door Won't Stay Closed? Use Magnetic Seals

By the [IDEAL install crew](https://idealshowerdoors.com/) · Frameless glass showers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire since 2014 · Updated 10-04-2026

Frameless doors have no latch, so a door that drifts open leaks. Magnetic seals hold the door against the panel and seal the gap at the same time.

## Which magnetic seal?

[Magnetic seals](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/c/magnetic) pressure fit onto the glass edge, and a strip goes on both the door and the panel so the magnets meet. Choose by [glass thickness](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/measure) and by the profile angle that matches how your door meets the panel; each product page has a drawing of the profile.

| Profile | 3/8"–1/2" glass | 1/4"–5/16" glass |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 45° left-hand | [CRL PMA10](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/p/pma10) | [CRL PMA8](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/p/pma8) |
| 45° right-hand | [CRL PMB10](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/p/pmb10) | [CRL PMB8](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/p/pmb8) |
| 90° | [CRL PMC10](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/p/pmc10) | [CRL PMC8](https://idealshowerdoors.com/store/p/pmc8) |

## Before you buy: check the hinges

If the door swings open by itself, a hinge may be out of adjustment, or the door is not level. Magnetic seals hold a door that is close to shut; they will not fight a door that wants to swing wide open.

## Common questions

**Do magnetic shower door seals work on frameless doors?**

Yes. They are made for frameless doors that close against a glass panel.

**Where do magnetic seals go?**

On the door edge and on the panel edge it closes against, so the magnets pull the two together.

**Will magnetic seals work against a wall?**

They are made for glass to glass. For a door that closes against a wall, use an 'H' wipe or a tape-on seal.
