Can You Use Windex, Magic Erasers or Bleach on Shower Glass?

Most household cleaners will get shower glass clean once. The problem is what they do over time: streaks, fine scratches, worn coatings and damaged seals. Here's what each one does and what we use instead.

What's safe on shower glass

Common questions

Can I use Windex on my glass shower door?

It's not what we recommend. Ammonia cleaners streak in a humid shower, can wear down coatings and don't remove hard water spots.

Will a magic eraser scratch shower glass?

It can. Melamine foam is a fine abrasive, and it can also strip a protective coating.

Is bleach safe on shower doors?

We don't recommend it. It's hard on vinyl seals and metal finishes and doesn't remove spots or soap scum.
