Bulb Seals, Fin Seals & Edge Wipes for Shower Doors
Bulb and fin seals close the vertical gap on the hinge side, the latch side, or where a door meets a wall. A hollow bulb squeezes shut as the door closes; fins and edge wipes bend to fill the gap.
Tape-on versions are chosen by the gap they close, not the glass thickness, because they mount to the glass edge or wall with clear VHB tape. Clip-on bulb seals pressure fit onto glass of a specific thickness.
How to choose
- Measure the gap with the door closed, then pick the seal rated for that gap (for example 1/8"–5/32", 5/32"–7/32", or 3/16"–3/8").
- Doors that swing both ways: bulb seals give in either direction.
- Pre-taped versions are peel-and-stick; the others need clear VHB mounting tape.
- Clip-on bulb seals (no tape) are sized to 5/16", 3/8" or 1/2" glass.

Common questions
What is the best seal for the hinge side of a glass shower door?
A clear vinyl bulb seal is the most popular hinge-side seal. The bulb compresses as the door closes. Choose it by gap: SDTJ for 1/8"–5/32", SDTB for 5/32"–7/32", SDLB for 3/16"–3/8".
Do bulb seals work on doors that swing in and out?
Yes. The bulb gives in both directions, so it works on inswing and outswing doors.
What tape do I use to install a shower door bulb seal?
Use clear double-sided VHB tape (we sell a 1/4" x 36' roll), or buy the pre-taped version of the seal.
