Common questions
How do I stop my glass shower door from leaking?
Find where the water escapes, then replace the seal there: a bottom sweep or drip rail for leaks under the door, an H-jamb or Y-jamb where the door meets a glass panel, an H wipe or bulb seal where it meets a wall or along the hinges. Match the seal to your glass thickness (most frameless doors are 3/8" or 1/2").
How often should shower door seals be replaced?
Vinyl and polycarbonate seals usually last a few years. Replace them when they turn cloudy or yellow, crack, stiffen, or no longer stop water.
How do I know what size shower door seal I need?
Measure the thickness of the glass at its edge and the gap the seal has to close. Clip-on seals are made for one glass thickness; tape-on seals are chosen by gap.
Can I replace a shower door seal myself?
Yes. Most frameless seals pressure fit onto the glass edge and are cut to length with a fine-tooth hacksaw or trim snips. Framed-door sweeps slide into a slot in the bottom rail.
What do I need to re-caulk a glass shower?
A silicone remover or razor scraper to take off the old bead, painter's tape for clean lines, a caulking gun and a clear mildew-resistant silicone. Use a neutral-cure silicone next to brass hardware.
