Shower Door Seals for 1/4" Glass

1/4" (6 mm) glass is the thinnest glass used in shower doors. You will find it on framed doors, older enclosures and some sliding doors. It is too light for most frameless swing doors, so if your door has no metal frame around it, measure again: it is more likely 3/8".

Every seal below pressure fits onto 1/4" glass. A seal made for thicker glass will be loose and fall off; one made for thinner glass will not go on.

1/4" glass: common questions

How do I know my shower glass is 1/4"?

Lay a tape measure across a bare edge of the glass. 1/4" is four 1/16" marks (about 6 mm). If you count six marks it is 3/8"; five marks is 5/16".

Will a 3/8" seal work on 1/4" glass?

No. Clip-on seals grip the glass by pressure, so a seal made for thicker glass will slide off. Order the seal made for your exact thickness.

My framed door has a vinyl sweep in a metal track. Is that a 1/4" seal?

Not usually. Framed doors use slide-in vinyl sweeps that fit the metal bottom rail, not the glass. Those are in our Framed Door Sweeps section.

Not sure where it leaks?

Match the leak to the seal in our guide, or let the Seal Finder do it.
