Shower Door Sweep vs. Drip Rail: What's the Difference?
They do two different jobs at the bottom of the door, and the most popular frameless bottom seals combine both in one piece.
The sweep
A sweep (or wipe) is the soft fin that runs along the curb and closes the gap under the door, so water can't run out underneath.
The drip rail
A drip rail is a rigid lip that catches water running down the glass and drops it back into the shower instead of letting it run off the bottom edge and out.
Why most frameless doors use both
A bottom wipe with drip rail, like CRL P990WS (3/8" glass) or CRL P912WS (1/2" glass), does both jobs in one piece. For doors with a tighter gap or where a drip rail would hit the curb, a sweep-style seal like CRL P880WS or a one-piece bottom rail like CRL P501BR may fit better.

Help the drip rail with the glass
A drip rail can only catch the water that runs down to it. On spotted, untreated glass, more water clings and dries in place.
